The Regional Safety Director is responsible for the implementation, compliance and general oversight of Suffolks Safety and Health Program for all projects within an assigned territory. This includes all related tracking, monitoring and documentation related to this plan. This position works closely with Vice Presidents and General Superintendents or Directors of Field Operations to administer and direct the plan in support of Corporate Standard Operating Procedures.

AGC and ASSE and other trade association representatives
Multi disciplinary approach integrated with the Risk Management function in order to achieve optimum results for successful execution of our Safety Program Recruit, train, develop and oversee Safety Managers in an assigned territory
Staff supervision includes the oversight of Independent Development plans, annual performance evaluations, and motivation and fosters teamwork. Builds teamwork amongst the safety staff and the field operations department
Oversee the conduct of regularly scheduled site evaluations, follow up and tracking of corrections to deficiencies
Regional oversight of the use of safety technology reporting and process including identification of report parameters, trends and use of information to control and reduce hazards in a given territory
Oversee the conduct of all administrative tasks related to reporting of site evaluations and incident reporting requirements, and site specific safety planning and OSHA 300 Logs performed by Safety Managers
Assist in the Pre-Construction Management Plan activities for advice on Safety Related Activities
Identify opportunities for improvement in safety compliance, safety training and selection and use of subcontractors
Act as a resource for field operations with compliance on Federal and state (OSHA) as well as local safety and health regulations including NFPA and JCAHO Standards as necessary
Development of and strengthening of relationships with all local, state and Federal agencies with responsibility for Safety
Regional Area Company resource on leading Industry Safety Initiatives, trends and regulatory changes on a state, local and federal level
Perform root cause and accident investigation techniques in the event of a job site accident including collection of Suffolk Safety and Health standard incident reporting forms and documentation working closely with Risk Managers
Play an integral role in the Regional Crisis Communication Plan process
Oversee the Subcontractor site specific safety planning and pre-construction activities
Active coordination with Regional Risk Managers for identification of Claims trends and pro active risk management planning
Active coordination with Director of Field Operations and General Superintendents for the successful execution of Corporate Safety and Health Program
Bachelors degree in Safety Science, engineering or demonstrated equivalent field at a minimum. Advanced degree a plus. ASP and CSP preferred
Minimum Five Seven years of related experience in Construction Safety and Health
Working Knowledge of Federal and State health and safety regulations.
Outstanding team player and with good interpersonal skills.
OSHA 500 Certified trainer
CPR/First Aid Certification
Demonstrated knowledge of construction best practices Demonstrated experience in leading, motivating and coaching a staff
Strong sense of urgency in support of providing best in class customer service
Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
Strong planning, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills
Individual must be highly collaborative and demonstrated positive results in directing people
Demonstrated ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing to all levels of an organization.
Capacity to coordinate efforts involving staff from different departments and external partners.
5 - 10% travel possible
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for long periods of time; talk or hear; walk; sit. The employee is frequently required to reach with arms and/or hands; bend, kneel; stoop, crouch or crawl and climb; perform fine motor, hand and finger skills in the use of a keyboard, telephone, or writing. The employee is occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 30 lbs. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The employee will spend their time on the physical jobsite; in a construction trailer; and occasionally an office building. This position is exposed to high temperatures; cool/cold temperatures; and loud noises.
