Job Details Here's how a Project Risk Manager for our US Head Office office contributes to our team:
Responsibilities
- Identify, quantify, and recommend mitigation on risks, including insurance policy placement, that may arise from US project pursuits.
- Assist NAHQ Corporate Risk Manager in designing risk mitigation and insurance strategies for complex US project pursuits.
- Manage the CCIP programs in conjunction with the NAHQ Corporate Risk Manager
- Identify project pursuits which could fit into Contractor Controlled Insurance Programs (CCIPs)
- Assist in renewal process of corporate insurance portfolio, including identification of new exposures and coverage amendments.
- Assist in the planning, design and implementation of the company wide Risk Management process.
- Review proposed CCIP programs and whether they meet our internal risk appetite.
- Review Owner Controlled Insurance Programs (OCIPs) and determine if they meet our internal standards via gap analysis and responsiveness.
- Develop and maintain relationships with Managers of Finance & Commercial Risk (MFCR’s) to understand the particulars of each US District’s operations and risk appetite.
- Assist MFCR’s in project pursuit negotiations.
- Work with the Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) group to identify trends in US Workers Compensation and how those trends affect project execution and profitability.
- Develop key relationships with brokers, insurers, clients and other external stakeholders and services providers.
- Educate, train and build risk awareness with internal stakeholders (Districts and Corporate Services).
- Assist and support Districts and Risk Management Counsel with US claims resolution.
Qualifications
- A post-secondary degree in Risk Management, Business, Engineering, Finance, Economics or Law.
- Strong technical acumen in the area of insurance and risk management.
- Excellent analytic, problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to cope under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Self-directed and able to work under extremely tight deadlines.
- Ability to plan, organize and maintain attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with an emphasis on presentation, negotiation, and influencing skills.
- Developing knowledge of construction means and methods, problem identification, and project scheduling.
- Willingness to travel extensively throughout the US and Canada.
