Department: Rapid Response Team

Full Time
Shift: Days

Position Summary:
Responsible for the daily operations of the Rapid Response Team. Serve as the clinical resource and leader for department staff. Ensure adherence to Hospitals and departmental policies and procedures. Patient care assignment may include; Neonate, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult, and Geriatric age groups.

Detailed responsibilities:
* SUPERVISION - Develop efficient organizational structure. Supervise employees and select, terminate, train, educate, correct deficiencies, perform appraisals, issue discipline, counsel, schedule work assignments; encourage staff teamwork and growth initiatives
* SUPERVISION - Supervise and coordinate the activities of Paramedics of the Rapid Response Team in carrying out treatments
* SCHEDULE - Prepare work schedule to provide adequate coverage and efficient use of personnel to complete assigned work load
* RESOURCE - Serve as a clinical resource to staff by providing departmental in-services, training, and staff meetings; conduct internal training programs to keep members of RRT up to date on current practices and procedures
* TRAINING - Conduct internal in-services and training programs for medical, nursing, and ancillary staff as needed
* EXERCISES - Plan, conduct, and evaluate emergency responses to patient and visitor emergencies by utilizing “mock code” scenarios to the reaction of departments and personnel
* COMMUNICATION - Develop and maintain community relationships; Develop and maintain good communications and relationships with staff and departments
* WORK FLEXIBILITY - Demonstrate flexibility in working in a variety of settings
* PROBLEM SOLVING - Recognize problems, identify the cause and take corrective action; Inform the department director of activities, problems and needs within the department
* PATIENT CARE - Perform staff Paramedic duties in accordance with professional preparation and licensure within organization parameters
* COORDINATE - Coordinate with CPR committee and ensure the role of RRT during Dr. Hearts and other related patient events
* GOALS - Support, promote and participate as appropriate in the development and revision of departmental and hospital goals, objectives, policies, procedures, projects and programs as assigned
* QUALITY - Regularly audits patient records and charts to evaluate the level and quality of patient care provided
* POLICIES AND PROCEDURES - Establish and maintain policies for safety and ensures adherence to safety procedures in the use of therapy equipment and the handling of patients
* COMPLIANCE - Ensure staff compliance with established policies and procedures, professional standards and practice, and requirements of accreditation and regulatory agencies
* ASSET MANAGEMENT - Monitor large value inventory/supplies; track usage, disposal and replacement of expired items
* COMPLIANCE - Maintain compliance and licensure with different governing bodies and agencies to ensure that RRT can utilize resources (protocols, medications, vehicles) to provide patient care
* BUDGET - Assist in developing departmental budget, monitor and approve expenditures, ensure fiscal responsibility
* LICENSURE - Maintain records of licensure on assigned staff
* PAYROLL - Prepare and submit time to payroll system biweekly
* DEVELOPMENT - Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, reading current literature, attending in-services, meetings and workshops
* PATIENT SAFETY 1 - Follow patient safety-related policies, procedures and protocols
* PATIENT SAFETY 2 - Demonstrate proactive approach to patient safety by seeking opportunities to improve patient safety through questioning of current policies and processes
* PATIENT SAFETY 3 - Identify and report/correct environmental conditions and/or situations that may put a patient at undue risk
* PATIENT SAFETY 4 - Report potential or actual patient safety concerns, medical errors and/or near misses in a timely manner
* PATIENT SAFETY 5 - Encourage patients to actively participate in their own care by asking questions and reporting treatment or situations that they don't understand or may "not seem right"

* Emergency Medical Technician Paramedic License
* CPR for Healthcare/BLS Prov or Prof Rescuers w/in 30 days
* Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification
* PALS

Physical Conditions:
Heavy Work: Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects or people. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Medium Work.
