The Controller oversees the organization's accounting requirements, ensuring precise and punctual financial reporting adhering to GAAP standards. This role involves refining accounting systems, enforcing internal controls, and enhancing overall financial processes. We seek a meticulous, dependable, and self-driven professional who collaborates effectively with other functions and possesses a keen eye for detail.
Responsibilities:
Ensure Timely and Accurate Accounting:
- Manage and oversee the accounting processes, guaranteeing that all financial transactions are accurately recorded and reported in a timely manner.
- Implement rigorous quality checks to ensure compliance with GAAP and regulatory standards in all financial records and reports.
Enhance Accounting Systems and Processes:
- Lead efforts in refining and upgrading existing accounting systems, implementing necessary enhancements for improved efficiency and accuracy.
- Provide comprehensive training to team members on updated processes and systems, ensuring seamless adaptation and optimal utilization.
Develop and Execute Internal Controls:
- Collaborate in the development and execution of robust internal controls for accounting systems, focusing on cash management, cash inflows and outflows, and the security of organizational assets.
- Regularly assess the effectiveness of internal controls, making necessary adjustments to uphold the organization's financial integrity.
Financial Reviews and Reconciliations:
- Develop, maintain, and coordinate detailed financial reviews and reconciliations, identifying discrepancies and implementing corrective measures promptly.
- Reconcile complex bank accounts meticulously, using analytical skills to ensure accurate financial representation, and forecast cash requirements with precision.
Prepare and Present Comprehensive Financial Reports:
- Prepare in-depth financial reports that provide meaningful insights into the organization's financial health, including detailed analysis and recommendations for strategic financial decisions.
- Present findings to stakeholders, utilizing clear and concise communication to ensure a comprehensive understanding of financial data.
Oversee Compliance and Regulatory Requirements:
- Ensure full compliance with various regulatory requirements, including banking, audit, insurance, and other reporting needs, by staying updated on relevant laws and regulations.
- Manage relationships with external auditors, guiding the audit process to ensure accurate and efficient examinations.
Team Collaboration and Task Division:
- Assist in the development and execution of a clear division of accounting tasks within the team, aligning responsibilities with team and organizational objectives.
- Provide backup support for critical accounting operations, fostering a cohesive and supportive team environment.
Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) Development:
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) manual for key accounting operations, ensuring a standardized and efficient approach to financial tasks.
- Regularly update the SOP manual to incorporate changes in processes and policies, ensuring that all team members are working from the most current guidelines.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Collaborate effectively across functions and with MOFC (Management, Operations, Finance, and Compliance) partners as required, fostering teamwork and synergies that enhance overall organizational efficiency.
Special Projects and Additional Responsibilities:
- Undertake various special projects as assigned, demonstrating adaptability and problem-solving skills in handling diverse tasks.
- Embrace additional duties as needed, showcasing flexibility and dedication to contributing to the organization's overall success.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business
2. Professional accounting designation, CPA, preferred
3. Minimum of 10 years of professional accounting experience, preferably in a senior role.
4. Experience working with non-profit organizations is strongly preferred.
5. In-depth knowledge of SEFA, Audit, Non-profit, Internal and External Financial Reporting, Cash Flow Management, Cash Flow Reporting, Bank Account Reconciliations, Financial Reporting, General Ledger, Risk Management, Internal Controls, Forecasting, Budgeting, Financial Auditing.
6. Strong knowledge of financial regulations and accounting processes.
7. Excellent leadership and team management skills.
8. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
9. Excellent communication and presentation skills.
10. High level of professionalism and ethics.
