Job Summary and Qualifications

Under the direction of the licensed anesthetist and the RN, the Anesthesia Technician provides anesthesia support to the licensed anesthetist during surgical procedures. The Anesthesia Technician anticipates the needs of the licensed anesthetist through preparation and maintenance of supplies, patient monitoring equipment and anesthesia delivery systems. This includes anticipating anesthesia needs, maintaining stock levels, setting up supplies and equipment, cleaning and storage of equipment, equipment operation, basic troubleshooting and ensuring equipment operation and maintenance. The Anesthesia Technician is an integral member of the perioperative team and he/she works in a collaborative role with the circulating RN and the perioperative team to ensure a safe and optimal patient perioperative experience.

<b>What you will do in this role:</b>

<ul><li>Anticipates the needs of the licensed anesthetist for regional, epidural and spinal blocks and the induction of general anesthesia through the application of technical knowledge and competence in set-up, operation and troubleshooting of anesthesia delivery systems, monitors and ancillary devices to include the laryngoscope, intubation equipment and IV solution and tubing set-up.</li><li>Consistently uses aseptic technique, and correctly sets up and prepares needed supplies and equipment for invasive line monitoring. Assists the anesthetist in the preparation and draping for invasive line placement and monitoring</li><li>Maintains designated par levels of anesthesia supplies and ensures carts are stocked with immediate use items used for operative procedures. Participates in evaluating new equipment/supplies that pertains to the anesthesia service.</li><li>Ensures utilized equipment is appropriately cleaned, stored and in proper working order prior to use; performs basic equipment troubleshooting as necessary. Submits work orders in a timely manner for needed maintenance/repairs. Properly cleans and stores equipment after use. Schedules preventative maintenance as required and follows up on completion.</li><li>Consistently cleans, disinfects, sterilizes and ensures availability of utilized anesthesia equipment according to AORN standards and practices.</li><li>Works in collaboration with the circulating RN and assists with the placement of non-invasive monitoring devices (blood pressure cuff, EKG leads and pulse oximeter probe), patient transport and positioning, as directed.</li></ul>

* Serves as primary specialist and consultant to management on performance management matters. Participates on behalf of the PMR Office on personnel system program development initiatives, including development and piloting of IRS plans for new performance management and awards systems. exercising specified latitude for developing assigned program area concepts and supporting strategies and plans for the IRS's leadership, incorporating evolving fields of enterprise data analytics. As a team leader or member, develops, designs and implements HR tools or approaches that include analysis and assessment methodologies.
* Exercises independent technical judgment concerning the interpretation of policy planning, designing and executing assigned performance management projects and programs; Ensures compliance with overarching policies established by IRS, Treasury, OPM, and Executive Orders. Program areas often cross functional lines and require incumbent to integrate strategic planning issues such as streamlining and improving personnel system structure, rules, and processes; persuading senior officials to find common ground and accept controversial proposals.
* Participates in working groups to present, defend, and negotiate PMR positions or protect office interests. Conducts Service wide studies, reviews, research, and analysis of workforce management, performance management, and/or awards. Represents the IRS as the senior specialist in assigned program/project areas. Serves as the focal point in these areas and provides, from a global perspective, technical assistance, policy interpretation and alternative options to senior management and officials as needed. To be qualifying, your experience must demonstrate knowledge of the performance management and/or award program including policies, procedures, and practices sufficient to execute a comprehensive service-wide performance management and/or award program; experience providing comprehensive HR advisory and technical consultation to advise and assist management in decision making; experience managing and operating HR-related automated systems and overseeing workforce training on HR systems to execute the performance management and/or awards program; assisting management in establishing, maintaining, and monitoring effective performance management programs to plan, monitor, develop, rate, and reward employee performance, and services that support formal and informal award programs.
