Job Duties

  • Collects proper and adequate specimens for diagnostic testing while maintaining positive patient relations.
  • Assists other laboratory staff members in computer-based activities and general clerical responsibilities.
  • Accepts assignments readily and adapts to various workplace environments, serving as a hospital liaison member.
  • Accepts new responsibilities and offers suggestions for improved processes or enhanced patient care.
  • Consistently performs assigned test procedures at assigned work stations according to departmental specifications.
  • Complies with policy and procedures.

Phlebotomist II has at experience and can independently perform venipunctures and skin punctures on all age groups, from neonates through adults, to obtain blood specimens, knowledge of processing specimens for analysis, and the ability to utilize the appropriate computer systems to register patients, facilitate billing, accession laboratory specimens, and provide information. Phlebotomist II is responsible and accountable for performing a wide range of tasks to provide a specimen of highest analytical quality for testing and accurate information for clients, including performing duties to support the goals and objectives to provide quality patient care and patient satisfaction. It’s the duty of a phlebotomist to make patients feel relaxed and protected while collecting a blood sample. The ability to explain the blood drawing process to patients and to show a comforting attitude toward patients creates an amiable environment
