We are currently seeking a highly skilled, enthusiastic and dedicated Manual Machinist to join our dynamic team. This is a permanent, full-time position on the 1st shift in the manufacturing industry. The successful candidate will primarily be responsible for setting up and operating a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments. If you have a knack for precision and a keen eye for detail, this is the perfect opportunity for you to showcase your skills and make a significant impact within our organization.
Responsibilities:
1. Set up and operate a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments. This includes precision instrument makers who fabricate, modify, or repair mechanical instruments.
2. Fabricate and modify parts to make or repair machine tools or maintain industrial machines, applying knowledge of mechanics, mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures.
3. Calculate dimensions or tolerances using instruments such as micrometers or vernier calipers.
4. Machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, or grinders.
5. Set up, adjust, or operate basic or specialized machine tools used to perform precision machining operations.
6. Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, or materials onto machines.
7. Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process.
8. Study sample parts, blueprints, drawings, or engineering information to determine methods or sequences of operations needed to fabricate products.
9. Maintain machine tools in proper operational condition.
Qualifications:
1. A minimum of 2 years of experience as a Manual Machinist or in a similar role.
2. Proficiency in using manual lathes, tooling, and fabrication.
3. Exceptional knowledge of machine setup and operation.
4. Strong understanding of the working properties of metals and other materials.
5. Ability to read and interpret technical blueprints and design schematics.
6. Excellent mathematical skills, including the ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations.
7. Strong problem-solving skills and a keen eye for detail.
8. Ability to work well under pressure while maintaining safety standards.
9. Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with a strong focus on quality and efficiency.
10. Physical stamina and strength to lift heavy items and work for extended periods.
