Optum Gastroenterology   has an immediate opening for a friendly, patient focused and detailed oriented  Patient Care Coordinator   to join our team. The  Patient Care Coordinator   is responsible for the completion of set processes and protocols. Works cooperatively with all members of the care team to support the vision and mission of the organization, deliver excellent customer service, and adhere to Lean processes. Supports the teams in meeting financial, clinical, and service goals.

Hours : Monday, through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. May be asked to float to the other practices in Springfield, Clifton, Hackensack and Bayonne, Maplewood, and West Orange, NJ.

Locations: 38 Meadowlands Parkway, Secaucus, NJ; 930 Clifton Ave, Clifton, NJ; 10 First Street, Hackensack, NJ; 430 Broadway, Bayonne, NJ; 55 Morris Ave, Springfield, NJ; 372 Valley Road, West Orange, NJ; 264 Boyden Ave., Maplewood, NJ.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Greet patient when entering the practice
  • Obtain accurate and updated patient information, such as name, address, insurance information
  • Perform insurance verification on the date of service
  • File and maintain medical records
  • Confirms and schedule appointments
  • Answer telephone calls promptly and courteously
  • Collects co-pays or outstanding balances on the date of service
  • Perform referral documentation promptly
  • Performs certain follow-up services for patients in a prompt and courteous manner, such as scheduling specialist appointments, scheduling follow-up appointments and obtaining copies lab results or specialist reports
  • Adhere to the standards identified in Optum’s Employee Policy Manual
  • Cooperate with other Optum employees to achieve specific team goals
  • Keep abreast on current medical requirements relevant to their position, which includes maintaining patient confidentiality and abiding by all HIPAA and OSHA requirements
  • Perform other duties as assigned

R equired Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
  • 1+ year of experience in Healthcare or customer service
  • Intermediate of computer proficiency (multi-task through multiple applications including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word)
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English
  • Ability to travel 50% of the time to Secaucus,  Springfield, Clifton, Hackensack, Maplewood, West Orange and Bayonne, NJ

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication skills and phone etiquette 
  • Experience working with an electronic health record or EPIC

  • Ability to work independently and as a team, and maintain good judgment and accountability 
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with health care providers 
  • Strong organizational and time management skills 
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks to meet all deadlines

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to speak clearly and concisely, conveying information in a manner that others can understand, as well as ability to understand and interpret information from others

 

New Jersey Residents Only :  The hourly range for  New Jersey   residents is $16.54 to $32.55per hour .
