Job Details

SUMMARY – Repair, create and make tooling to match part drawings. The tooling requirements are developed by interpreting drawings, engaging design engineers, manufacturing engineers, and other tool makers to determine the best design for the tool.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Observe all safety rules and regulations including wearing and maintaining personal protective equipment. Proper use of machine guarding and lockout/tagout procedures.
Assist in measuring team performance for safety, quality, delivery, and cost. Work with team members, other business functions, customers, and suppliers to continually improve these measures
Performs duties to plan, layout, build, alter, automate, and repair a variety of jigs, fixtures, machine parts, cutting tools, gages, and similar devices.
Troubleshoot existing tooling and repair as required.
Work from work orders, complex drawings, sketches, sample parts, written and verbal instructions.
Visualize finished job; interpret plan and layout work in proper operational sequence.
Select and layout material; make necessary calculations and select allowances for shrinkage, machining, finishing, and fitting.
Perform intricate machining operations on vertical and horizontal milling and boring, grinding, lathe, CNC equipment and other related equipment involving routine setups and adjustments to maintain close tolerances and fits.
Perform bench and hand work such as filing, grinding, polishing, fitting and adjusting to insure satisfactory performance; weld and solder as required.
Repair and rebuild existing or acquired tooling, equipment, and other accessories; work with mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and other systems to assemble, fit and fasten as necessary.
Build machine tools, indicate, and align to exacting tolerances to pass initial quality standards.
Use a wide range of calipers, micrometers, verniers, comparator and other precision measuring instruments to maintain close tolerances.
Performs duties of Tool & Die Maker.
Accurately complete required quality and production reports and records.
Participate in department improvement efforts.
Arrange schedule to meet customer needs.
Daily maintenance and cleaning of machines including lubrication. Exercise proper care in the use of tools, equipment and materials. Detect and report faulty equipment, defective materials, improper operations and/or unusual conditions to supervisor.
Assist in the training of other associates in procedures and use of equipment.
Maintain work area in a clean and safe condition.
Uses lift equipment as necessary to move and position stock and parts; uses care to safely lift and balance loads properly. Operates equipment in a safe manner.
Arrange schedule to meet customer needs.

Requirement:
At least 5years experience as a tool and die maker in a manufacturing environment. CNC experience desired.
