Location:  1 Dakota Dr. Ste 218, Lake Success, NY 11042

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the patient’s liaison throughout the life cycle of the program by addressing program specific quality measures and adhering to company guidelines/standard operating procedures in our Infection Disease office
  • Make appropriate and timely patient appointments, confirmations, and appointment reminders
  • Notify all appropriate departments of data related patient case updates
  • Outreach to patients’ providers and input appointments
  • Obtain accurate and updated patient information, such as name, address, insurance information
  • Perform insurance verification on the date of service
  • Confirms and schedule appointments
  • Answer telephone calls promptly and courteously
  • Performs certain follow-up services for patients in a prompt and courteous manner, such as scheduling specialist appointments, scheduling follow-up appointments 
  • Adhere to the standards identified in Optum Tri-State’s Employee Policy Manual
  • Cooperate with other Optum Tri-State employees to achieve specific team goals
  • Keep abreast on current medical requirements relevant to their position, which includes maintaining patient confidentiality and abiding by all HIPAA requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
  • 2+ years of customer service experience in a healthcare/medical setting
  • Intermediate level of proficiency in Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to work the following hours:
    • Mon/Weds/Thurs 9:00am-5:00pm
    • Tues 11:00am – 7:00pm
    • Fri 8:00am – 3:00pm

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in medical front office position
  • Knowledge of Epic EMR software
  • Solid working knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare landscape
  • Computer proficiency to include typing, data entry, and Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent problem solving, critical thinking, and organizational skills
  • Able to act independently with minimum supervision  

New York Residents Only: The salary range for New York residents is $16.00 to $28.27  per hour . Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
