Job Details

Seeking a proven Transmission Line Engineering Group Manager. The ideal candidate will handle electric transmission line design, project management, client interaction, proposal preparation, staff technical guidance/training, design reviews, scheduling, staffing, invoicing, budget control, QA/QC enforcement, and business development related to electrical transmission design services.

Project Management Responsibilities:
  • Approximately 30% of the role is dedicated to managing assigned projects, ensuring scope, schedule, budget, quality, safety, and profitability.
  • Directly manages projects without restrictions on the number or value.
  • Coordinates and proposes scope, schedule, and fees for managed projects.
  • Demonstrates mastery of project management skills and employs advanced techniques to enhance productivity, efficiency, and accuracy.
  • Collaborates with Project Controls/Accounting staff to monitor and control project cost and billings.

Technical Responsibilities:
  • Approximately 25% of the duties involve technical work, encompassing engineering design, drawing creation, bills of material development, permit creation, and QA/QC.
  • Implements effective engineering methods, offers technical guidance, and serves as a resource for engineers and designers.
  • Performs complex tasks with latitude for determining appropriate processes.

Business Development Responsibilities:
  • Approximately 20% of duties focus on Business Development, cultivating relationships, obtaining new work with existing clients, and presenting capabilities to potential clients.
  • Serves as the primary client contact for projects managed, actively securing new work from new and existing clients through relationship-building and regular communication.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Up to 25% of the role may involve supervising the technical staff for transmission lines.
  • Supervises, develops, and manages the career path of direct reports, including performance and compensation reviews.
  • Administers policies and procedures, evaluates results and performance, and trains, coaches, leads, and directs the work of the team.
  • Develops, implements, maintains, and manages group processes, including QMS and resource planning.
  • Manages group productivity, meeting client needs, performance, and profitability goals.

Experience:
  • Requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience, or less experience with an advanced degree, including at least 2 years of prior supervisory and/or project management experience. Preferred 10+ years of related experience.
  • Effective communication skills with clients, management, peers, and subordinates are essential.
  • Subject matter expertise in electric transmission line design and engineering concepts and principles.
  • Strong leadership skills and demonstrated Project Management expertise.
  • In-depth understanding of project management financial concepts and software.

Education:
  • Bachelor or better in Engineering or a related field. Civil, Electrical, and Mechanical preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
  • Must hold a PE (Professional Engineer License).

Competency:
  • Expert level PLS skills required
