We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Accounting Manager for our growing Law Firm. This is a permanent position that offers an exciting opportunity to oversee and manage all financial aspects of our firm. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing payroll, legal billing, partnership distribution and taxes, retirement plan administration, bank account and credit card reconciliations, financial reporting, and account reconciliations. This role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles and their application within the legal industry, as well as exceptional organizational and leadership skills.
Responsibilities:
1. Oversee and manage all financial aspects of the legal department including payroll, legal billing, partnership distribution and taxes, and retirement plan administration.
2. Perform bank account and credit card reconciliations.
3. Prepare and present accurate and timely financial reports.
4. Conduct account reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance.
5. Develop and implement financial policies and procedures.
6. Establish and maintain financial controls with the legal department.
7. Collaborate with external auditors and manage internal controls.
8. Develop and manage financial systems and policies.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or MBA a plus
2. Minimum of 5+ years of relevant experience in accounting management. Ideally within the legal industry.
3. Strong understanding of accounting principles and their application within the legal industry.
4. Proven experience with payroll, legal billing, partnership distribution and taxes, retirement plan administration, bank account and credit card reconciliations, financial reporting, and account reconciliations.
5. Excellent computer skills; experience in accounting software, Microsoft Office Suite, and databases.
6. Exceptional knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, cost control principles, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
7. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
8. Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
9. High attention to detail and accuracy.
10. Ability to direct and supervise.
